Friday, May 10, 2002 Just reviewed this: Ferruccio Vitale: Landscape Architect of the Country Place Era, to appear shortly here. The author argues Vitale was of an intellectual match compared to Olmstead who practiced before and through Vitale's career. I'm not convinced, and the historic photos of the 'Country Place' homes and gardens don't exactly help.
